BRAN Announces Daily Gravel Option for 2025
The 43rd Annual Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) returns from June 1–7, 2025, inviting cyclists of all backgrounds to explore the Cornhusker State’s scenic highways and friendly communities. While BRAN has traditionally featured beautiful paved routes showcasing Nebraska’s rolling hills and open skies, this year also brings a new twist for those seeking a little more adventure: optional gravel routes available each day.
A Ride for Everyone
BRAN’s classic paved route remains the primary draw for most participants, offering well-supported mileage each day and the opportunity to soak up the state’s landscapes at a relaxed pace. Newcomers and seasoned riders alike will enjoy the camaraderie of hundreds of cyclists spanning all ages and skill levels. For those looking to spice things up, a separate gravel route will be marked on each day of the tour. This side option is perfect for riders who love the challenge of less-traveled roads and want to experience Nebraska’s backcountry from a unique perspective.
Why Consider the Gravel Option?
While it’s certainly not the main focus for most riders, the daily gravel path is a fun alternative if you like a bit of unpredictability or want to test your gravel-riding skills. Expect rustic roads, serene rural views, and a sense of discovery you won’t always find on pavement. Bear in mind there won’t be official sags on gravel routes, so it’s best suited for those who come prepared with their own supplies and a self-reliant mindset. If you decide halfway that gravel’s not for you, don’t worry—you can always hop back onto the primary paved route and use its support services.
Registration and Ride Options
BRAN caps participation at 600 riders and offers multiple ways to experience the tour:
- Full week 7-day ride with 4-day and 3-day partial week options
- Early bird pricing until April 1, 2025
- Ride dates: June 1–7, 2025
- Registration at BRAN-inc.org
Ride Details and Route Updates
BRAN provides maps in “Ride with GPS” for both the paved and gravel routes, along with estimated elevation profiles and distances. Keep in mind that these routes may change based on local road conditions. Any adjustments will be announced during the Rider’s Meeting the night before Day 1, and the BRAN Route Marker might make on-the-spot decisions to detour if roads are unexpectedly impacted. When in doubt, follow BRAN’s ground markings.
More Than Miles
Since its beginning, BRAN has been about more than just racking up mileage. Proceeds from the tour support scholarships for Nebraska high school students in the communities that host riders along the way. By participating, you’re not only treating yourself to a memorable cycling experience but also helping to make a positive impact on the lives of local youth.
Ready to Roll?
Whether you’re sticking to the paved highway or planning to mix in some gravel, BRAN 43 promises a friendly, inclusive ride that highlights the heart of Nebraska. Secure your spot at BRAN-inc.org and gear up for an unforgettable cycling adventure—all while supporting a great cause. See you on the road (or gravel) in June 2025!
