The smell of rum, sea, and black powder.
The crashing of the waves and the sails snapping in the wind.
The creaking of timbers over the raucous laughter of gentlemen of fortune.
Mates you are about to set sail to conquer Nebraska and bring back untold treasures. So, take the women and children off the streets, tap an extra keg of rum and light the red lamps 'cause with fair winds the Pirates of the Plains will come a callin to a port near you.

By the Bye, the Lady Huskers have just swept the Cardinal and I see a carrier pigeon in the distance. Me hopes none of the mates have made a wee snack before it completes its mission.

Land Ho!
All my charts indicate this to be a friendly port. The natives are enthusiastic over our visit on June 8th. A young laddie let us snap this picture as he dreamed of pirate adventures.

BRAN 28 Recap and Best Community Results
The votes are in, the riders have spoken. And from the comments on the ballots, riders agonized over their decision. Every town did a wonderful job and would have a good chance to win in past years. However, when it came to crunch time, an overwhelming number of votes went to Petersburg. Dunning was a distinctively strong second and Callaway received the most votes ever by a starting town.
I hope that next year's towns will showcase their southern hospitality and continue in the tradition of BRAN "Excellence"
